St Peter & St Pauls is a Grade I listed building situated in the village of Great Bowden, Leicestershire. The oldest parts of the fabric date back to the 13th century and the church has the remains of a large fresco painted in the 15th century.
First contact and proposal
The church contacted Hybrid AV in the summer of 2023, they wanted to make the church a more multipurpose venue with the installation of state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment. After multiple site visits and demonstrations of equipment, we were able to put together a quotation for the full av installation based on the church’s requirements.
Equipment:
The church required a bespoke equipment desk so we chose a wooden desk with an integrated rack which was finished in a walnut veneer and really helped fit in aesthetically with the church surroundings along with this was the Barco 8k laser projector with Ultra Long Zoom lens also on a bespoke wooden walnut finished shelf . For the main projector screen, they wanted the unit to be hidden from view between the arch from the audience this was achieved with a Smart double drop electric 3m screen. For audio, we mounted 6 x Martin Audio CDD8W 8″ 2-Way Passive Loudspeaker 200W White SQ5 48 Channel 96kHz Digital Mixer 4 X EW100 G4-GB Lapel/Handheld Mic System ME2/835S Mic CH38 All audio was run over Dante meaning less cables and future proofing the system. The iPad with software controlled the microphones and levels. Along with the main projector we installed 2 x 50-inch SAMSUNG repeater screens on articulated arm mounts for the side viewing audience. These were all KDS-17DECKDS 17DEC 4K60 4:4:4 AVoIP Decoders and Encoders with Dante. The cable runs were an extremely important part of the av installation which is very normal for churches and dealing with historical England. This was achieved by using a certain colour of cable with the fact we were using Dante and Voip so cable runs were drastically reduced and kept to a minimum.

Install:
We had to be very patient with the client as we knew they were having to deal with a large committee also Historical England who have the main say on what and how equipment is installed in listed buildings .
We commenced work beginning of December 2024 with the client wanting to use the equipment for their busy Christmas productions. We finished on the 17th of December so in good time we provided group tuition for over 2 days this project still is under warranty for our help on video and phone calls for the next 12 months.
